Prime Foundation implemented a project titled “IFA Supplementation to address Maternal Anemia in Pakistan under COVID-19 Emergency Response Grant” in all the seven tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in collaboration with the department of health. The key objective of the project was to provide operational support for implementation of specific activities under NI’s COVID-19 emergency grant project for improving maternal anemia and safe motherhood. Further, this project focused on Infection prevention & control (IPC) at health facilities level in all the tribal districts and refreshed the knowledge of health professionals on IPC (Interpersonal Communication) through a series of training of the frontline health workers and health care providers at the facility level.

The programme aims to stabilize the acute malnutrition among the targeted population in Kohat, WFP is assisting the Provincial Department of Health in the implementation of a Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) package, in partnership with Prime Foundation. Prime Foundation is responsible for treatment of moderately acute malnourished children 6-59 months of age and acutely malnourished pregnant and lactating women (PLW). Acutely Malnourished Children and mothers under Targeted supplementary feeding programme will be provided with specialized Ready-to-use- Supplementary-Foods. The services will be complemented with Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) through positive deviance (PD) behaviour change communication approach with the assistance of government and Prime Foundation.
