11th January, 2012 The 7th batch of the refresher course formally commenced today, at Kuwait Teaching Hospital, Peshawar. The orientation session was preceded by the welcome address of the Director Project Support Unit, Prime Foundation, Dr. Saeed Anwar. During his address He shed light on the contributions and history of Prime Foundation in the field of development and highlighted the role of International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF), in providing funding support for this project.

Dr. Saeed also bid good luck to the passing out participants and hoped that this course will be beneficial to the participants and will help in alleviating the hardships of the participants brought on by the flood. The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Dr. Obaidullah Obaid, a renowned plastic surgeon and health journalist, in his address to the participants highlight the nobility of their profession. He told the participants that theirs is a very respectable profession and that they should always strive to gain more knowledge in their field in order to serve their patients better. They should be honest to their clients and must refer them to next levels, as and when there is a need to do so. He also stressed that the participants should treat their patients with respect and should take their work seriously as there is no room for errors or negligence in their profession. In the end, certificates and clean delivery kits were distributed among the outgoing participants by the Chief Guest, and Dr Bushra, the Gynecologist of Kuwait Teaching Hospital. The Refresher course is in its terminal phase as training of 6 out of the planned 8 batches of midwives has already been completed.
