A one day free workshop was conducted at Prime Institute of Public Health (PIPH) for graduate students and working professionals from various educational institutes of Peshawar. The workshop was a continuation of a series of career guidance seminars concluded earlier, and was designed to introduce participants to the skill of writing an effective resume. This free workshop represents the institute’s intention towards developing valuable career skills in the youth of Peshawar.

Dr. Umair Qazi (Assistant Professor, PIPH) supervised the workshop and delivered a detailed presentation on resume writing. The participants were informed about the difference between a Curriculum Vitae and Resume, the various components, structure and style of resumes. The participants realized the significance of having a professionally written resume while applying for jobs.

The workshop included a hands on session where the participants practiced preparing their own resumes, and received comments by workshop facilitators on how they could improve their resumes.

At the end Dr. Saeed Anwar (Project Director, PIPH) shared some useful tips about tailoring one’s resume to the specific requirements of the employer, while Dr. Usman A Raza (Director Public Health Interventions Unit, PIPH) shared some real life examples of good as well as bad resumes. Participants termed the workshop useful and an excellent learning opportunity. Prime Institute of Public Health will continue its contribution in capacity building of the local youth.
