Purpose
This collaborative venture was targeted towards the flood affected population of Peshawar, D I Khan, Charsadda and Nowshera. The aim was to provide relief, distinct from other efforts, by the combination of both preventive and promotive care.
Services
- Basic curative care
- Health education of all patients visiting the clinic which included topics such as nutritional counselling, ante-natal care, personal hygiene
- Provision of water purification sachets to all patients visiting the clinics
- Provision of Nutritional Supplements for pregnant & lactating mothers
- Mosquito Repellants and its application method to all women and children under 5 years
- Hygiene Kits to women of child bearing age (15 to 49 Years)
- Provision of ORS (Oral Rehydration Salt)
- Free screening tests for pregnant and lactating women including Haemoglobin, Urine Albumin & Sugar, Blood Sugar, Hepatitis B & C tests
- 3 to 5 day supply of medicines provided to the patients, free of cost
- Disease surveillance based on Disease Early Warning System
Results
- A comprehensive healthcare package, including curative, preventive and promotive healthcare, provided to an estimated 7 million flood affected population
- An estimated 79,333 patients, including 28,210 male and 51,123
