An interactive and informative session on “Sehat Sahulat Program” as part of a session on healthcare financing was conducted at PIPH during current Spring semester for Master programs on March 09, 2017. The session was chaired by Dr. Riaz Tanoli, project director Sehat Sahulat Program KP.

The speaker highlighted the purpose, background and efforts laid behind the Sehat Sahulat Program in KP. Public spending on health as percent of GDP was also discussed in contrast to global, regional and local.

He further emphasised that 51% (18, 00,000 households) of the province population were selected through BISP (Benazir Income Support Program) using Proxy Means Testing value (PMT 24.28). Health services to the said population will be provided through designated public and private hospitals across the province. He further added that PKR.250 to daily wagers for a maximum of three days will be paid upon discharge to the admitted patients. Transportation charges for maternity and other tertiary care purposes will also be provided to the affected individuals.

In response to a question about the sustainability of the program, Dr. Riaz Tanoli revealed that as an extension the package will be offered as private health insurance to the affordable population with some added value services in order to generate funds for sustainability of primary program.

The participants highly acknowledged the efforts made throughout the session and the importance of this session in their academic and practical career.
